Ministry: Russia wants foreign IT firms to pay personal income tax

MOSCOW, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- Russia may oblige the foreign IT companies engaging offshore employees to pay personal income tax from their salaries as a part of the second package of support measures for the local IT industry, a spokesperson for the Digital Development Ministry told PRIME on Friday.

“This step will create equal business conditions for foreign and Russian companies that pay taxes in full in our country,” the spokesperson said, adding that the initiative was put forward by the industry.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko earlier said that the ministry with participation of local IT companies drafted the second package of support measures that include 50 initiatives. Minister Maksut Shadayev said the government could approve it in March.
